Nancy LeaMond is a 'Champion of Livability'

The nonprofit Partners for Livable Communities honors the AARP executive as a leader for a livable, equitable and sustainable America

Nancy LeaMond of AARP is honored as a Champion of Livability

AARP Executive Vice President and livability award honoree Nancy LeaMond

Nancy LeaMond, executive vice president, chief advocacy and engagement officer at AARP,  has been named a national Leader for a Livable, Equitable and Sustainable America by Partners for Livable Communities, which announced the honor as part of its Celebrating Champions of Livability national awards program, which recognizes 23 individuals, five organizations and two communities. (See the complete list of honorees, below.)

The Leader for a Livable, Equitable and Sustainable America award recognizes individuals who embody the many elements that Partners for Livable Communities, throughout its 40 years, believes defines livability in American communities.

“The 15 national leaders we honor in this distinguished category embody the elements Partners has woven together to define livability — concern for older individuals; equal opportunity for all; amenities, arts and culture as assets; innovative economic development strategies; and bold municipal leadership,” said Robert McNulty, president and founder of Partners for Livable Communities.

LeaMond is responsible for driving the AARP social mission on behalf of Americans age 50-plus and their families. Those responsibilities include leading the AARP Livable Communities initiative, which is working nationwide to help local leaders and resident turn their communities into great places to live for people of all ages. A strong component of this work is sharing great ideas and solutions through the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities, the award-winning AARP Livable Communities e-Newsletter, and in three editions of the AARP publication Where We Live: Communities for All Ages.
